When I was approached by Capetalk 25 March 2020 for an emergency interview, I tried to get as many role-players persective within 3 hours as possible as to how many were on the street and where the shelters would be .
Info from CITY CAPETOWN about how many homeless dont have shelters has varied widely ....... I merely quoted the COC report R2015 of 7500 homless and deduced an approx increase since then which Id also heard at a meeting with Simon liell cock of 10000.
IN fact the COC has now said 6000 currently with 4000 on the street but irrespective of numbers, had i been able to explan oin kindness....it could have covered many areas. The emergency shelter report has changed too.......now STRANDFONTEIN is mentioned ( with no details )
Perhaps the best is to see which of the NAtional GOvt of City Of capetown locations they are going to stick to and how long it will take .Many have been mentioned by COC and reassesed and discarded it seems.
True Kindness includes..... Long Term Vision ( SKILLS UPLIFTMENT COUNSELLING HOUSING AND MORE SHELTERS - AND END TO CRIMINALISING with FINES when on the street with nowhere to go being the most important ) The interview was very short and unable to reflect those perspectives however.
Not just locking away temporaily in emergency camps for the coronavirus duration These were covered to some extent on our old web archived, a bit sadly for the sake of COV19 collective emergency food distribution on this new web to not only homeless folk but in informal settlements now with LOCKDOWN together with soupertroopers and other NGOS currrently
