Thanks to Grace lin and Jill kindness we were able to use some of their funds to provide 20 families of casual labourers more regular monthly food packs, each one consisting of 2.5 kg samp 500g beans 1 kg sugar 30 teabags, baked beans and soup

 

Having tried to help for some years now we have been saddened to see more and more labourers walking a long way from  capricorn steenberg and westlake to wait the whole morning often for work. so we are glad weve been able to step up supply a bit more, even if it is just once  month . there is so much gratitude dignity and need at the same time and servng these guys is always a pleasure

The last few 10 days have seen a new routine dailty in my life. at first I was quite apprehensive about this but then Ken Holmes from  scotland intervened without any request and gave such genrous donation shown here 

despite having been to meditation retreat of Kens ( Lojong ) a way of relinquishing self cherishing , ken was a wise admired person to me but   this changed my world entirely,...I had been feeling more and more alone tryign to thread things together in some sort of response to this COV crisis..delaing with a lot of doubnt also about the dharma ..and very alone  in a spiritual sense. and then the man who has always lovingly observed and quietly encouraged our progress  for years now on social media from so far away  with his wonderful wife, as a renunciate reliant  on others generosity, just put out an amount of money which i realized was well ..ill just say more than most with 4 times the money others with 4 times the money would dream of ..

i was blown away . it put me in touch with "reality" . .......it might only have been money but to me it feeds and keeps alive people who might not make it others wise every day. ( in fact i know they wont make it )  but more than that it showed me in way i probbalty needed to be shown that dharma as we say in buddhism  is not words ,.,.it never was ..compassion for strangers is easy to talk about ....well ken has another amngst his hundreds of fans. I think of you every day ken now and try to keep mantras going as i drive but tricky one has ot be very observant 

.I drive between kirstenhof and tokai with 9 meals a day now hich i only have 90 mins to cook and travel and dish out because there is lot else in my day too.
Its like a ride through the hell of others to be frank .....even as say those words i feel silence.. sadness

people want to open my car doors and pull on them when they see me but i have to keep them locked and all the windows up .....this makes me inextricabaly sad in retrospect but also how  so grateful that well... i have been given this privilage...to just be able to do something

so i check everyone has mask over thier face and see who ti is usualy in group of 3 or 4 or just single and every day its new opele coming out of the township the majority to beg.....yes..to beg on the silent streets and unawate of wearing masks  a strange phenonmenon they dont understand so they let it hang down ..and of course noone will help them

ive given some masks kindly made out by guess who an other UK special person Joanna Crossley..some for kids a some adults....people are very grateful

anyway with sign language we get  on the mask about their noses ,,and people are humble acpeting my "commands from a  stranger" yes im firm and curt then kind t its all strange because our other project HERE was taking people INSIDE  my car to shelter at Kalk bay  for lunch  before this

,,,,,,but stil people listen and that tears me apart too,,with respect knowing i dont have that kind of anger free humility...,,,,i pass each meal through the window i open once everyone is wearing the mask properly and ive somehow "taught social distance" one by one and its al very ordered. but the level of firmness well its not me but over the years ive developed it because it creates order in chaos ..and then their are the poeple  onsome other level i guess im observing and so much to say about them mostly just amazing and some tragic  but i cant go on here today

Ill come back in 7-10 days and carry with next intallment of this blog...but trust me this is hunger
people are going without meals for a day or 2 in some cases

thank you to Lea Wyler and rokpa international for the continuing distribution of rain ponchos which were sorely need as workers shown waited in teh rain with no protection for work despite the rain pouring down - .( so far on various projects including for homeless people and workers .

have now purchased some containers ot share the sugar and morvite lynn baker kirton generously supplied  but this is still an appeal to get some help for more containers (colleting old yogurt containers etc ) please help in ANY way you can and contact us because this is not sustainable buying plastic conta iners at R2-3 each for this )
